ARVEA superimposes on UWB-location for personal safety

Precise real-time location provides increased personal saftety in the archive of AREVA NP in the future

On basis of an active location-system in ultra wide band (UWB) a personal safety system from DYNAMIC Systems has been commissioned in the central-archive of AREVA NP GmbH in Erlangen.

In the archive, which has been installed in a new complex of buildings, documents are stored up to 90 years. Therefore AREVA takes account of the prescribed requirements for documentation and quality certification. To avoid loss by fire and water of firefighting, in the case of fire alarm the archive will be flooded with nitrogen. The risk for persons in the case of fire in the archive has been minimized by the installation of a reliable personal location system, which enables a quick and targeted rescue of persons by the rescue forces. "For us it is important, that the location systems on the one hand supports rescue forces absolutely reliable, and on the other hand that all common standards are fulfilled. Therefore we decided to choose the solution from DYNAMIC Systems." comments Dr. Orgent Seydel from AREVA.

On basis of active transmitting RFID-Tags (Radio Frequency Identification) and cross-linked sensors, DYNAMIC Systems installed a system for the customer AREVA, which ensures a permanent updated location of all personens in the 1.800 m² big archive - separated in severeal rooms. Visitors and employees are equipped by entering the archiv. "The integrated 3D-visualization always give information, where a persons is located. Additionally a belonging list is updated contemporary, in which exact section persons do stay", explains Dr. Harald Lossau, CEO of DYNAMIC Systems.

This location system applied more and more, to increase the saftey of human beings, who have to work in dangerous environments.
